The Big 3!

Dillon celebrated his third birthday with family this weekend. We had lasagna, panzanella (Italian summer salad), and of course, cake and ice cream. Dilly got lots of great new toys (which is exactly what we needed after Christmas) and had fun playing with them. He had a great time, and mommy and daddy are cheering the end of the terrible twos are sad to see another year gone.

Here's a picture of Dillon with his cake- he requested chocolate cake with chocolate icing and mommy agreed, "since it was a special day and all". There's a "3" candle in the top right corner, and Yes, that is a piece missing- Dillon demanded a piece with his dinner, and he wouldn't be told differently.

What you can't tell from the pictures is Dillon is fighting a cold or something, and has been running a low grade fever all weekend. He was doped up on Motrin such a tough little guy, and held it together pretty well, even without a nap.

Although there have been days when I didn't think Dillon would survive to see his third birthday I had to work extra hard to find Dillon's good nature, we've survived the terrible twos and are ready to tackle "the threes"!

Out with the Old...In with the New

After many years of "roughing it" with the 1998 "Antique, horse-and-buggy" version...I finally caved and Jason got his new computer. Can you believe we had the old one for 10 years?!? Not remarkable for some, but for a house where technology rules the roost, a 10-year old computer predates pretty much everything else we had, and that pretty much says it all. To hear Jason talk about it, you would think we had to turn a crank or pedal to keep the thing running. Did you know the first home computer ever built cost $10,000 and took up an entire room? We got off easy, I guess.

I now can extol on you the virtues of being able to surf more than 5 webpages at a time. I can work on something without saying "Oh Crap" every 5 minutes when the program would freeze up. No more "This program is no longer responding..." messages. And the best feature...I get to see a new picture every 10 seconds of my kids' smiling faces as the "widget" scans through all our archives of pictures. Awww...sweet.

And lest I forget...Jason works on the computer more or less every night after the kids go to bed, therefore ensuring me a few hours of restful sleep and a bed all to myself until about 11pm. Yipee!!
